You will find that over time your human hair wigs are going to become part of your everyday life and soon they will become part of you. Your human hair wigs look natural and will flow gorgeously in the wind. You might find that sometimes it feels like your wig is not properly secured on your head and this can make you feel uncomfortable and self-conscious. We are going to give you a few tricks that you can use to ensure that your wig is secured well on your head. There is nothing wrong with a bit of extra security.

Please note that the products are in no particular order.

Metal Wig clips:

These metal clips do require a bit of work before you can use them. All you need to do is sew the clips into the inside of the wig. Then you can clip the metal clips to your own hair to secure the wig in place. If you do not have a lot of your own hair, then this is not the best option for you as it will be uncomfortable for you as well as the wig will not be as secured as it can be.

If you are not happy to sew them into your wig, you can always ask a professional to do it for you.

Wig caps:

Wig caps are ideal to use whether you have your own hair or not. Wig caps will ensure that your own, natural hair is kept in place. The cap will also keep your human hair wig clean as well as keeps your wig from moving and slipping out of place throughout the day.

Mesh wig caps are better to use if you have long hair as it is more durable. If your hair is shorter then a nylon wig cap will work for you.

Wig grip bands:

Wig grip bands are the most popular and loved ways to secure your human hair wigs. Most brands will use double-sided velvet like material for their bands. One side grips to your own natural hair or your skin whereas the other side will grip to the wig itself. The band can be adjusted at the back of the band. These bands are comfortable and you cannot see the band through the wig. Please ensure that you choose a wig grip band that has the same colour as your skin. This will help the band blend in with your natural complexion and help give the illusion of real hair and not a wig.

Wig Grip Caps:

This option is ideal for someone who is on a tight budget but wants to get the best of both worlds. A wig grip cap combines your normal wig cap as well as the velvet like material. If you have sensitive skin or you suffering with hair loss then this is the best option for you as it is easy on the skin and your human hair wig will not go sliding throughout the day.

You can also wear the grip cap when you are sleeping due to the softness of the material. Wig grip caps can also be used for men’s’ wigs as they can be hidden easily and fits well underneath a cap of the hood of a jersey.

Double-sided tape:

If you do not have a lot of money then this is the most affordable option. All you do is place the tape anywhere in your wig and pull off the extra piece of paper on the other side of the tape before placing it on your head. Please try your best to place the tape somewhere where you do not have hair as the tape will be sore to remove if it is placed on your own hair.

Gel headband:

This is one of my favourite quick goes to when placing a wig. This headband can be worn underneath your wig and will make the wig wearing experience more comfortable. It is ideal for someone who exudes a lot of body heat as the gel band will help cool down your temperature of your head. The band will also help relieve any headaches that may be caused by the pressure of the human hair wig.

Bobby Pins:

Bobby pins are great to have lying around the house when you feel like you just need that extra support when you change your wig style to something that has a bit more flow or even an up style. They go into the wig easily and will help secure the wig to your natural hair. They keep the wig looking natural and secured throughout the day. Bobby pins are easy to remove and can be used over and over again until they start to lose their shape.

Good old fashioned wig glue:

Wig glue is bested used on an area that does not have a lot of hair. If you place glue on an area with a lot of hair, you will potentially rip some of your natural hair out and that can be a very painful process. Having said that, wig glue, is ideal for people who need a gentle wig security. It is a body adhesive that can ensure that your wig doesn’t move throughout the day.

Removing it off the skin and wig is easy as it comes off with some warm water. Best part about the glue is that it does not leave a stain on your skin or your wig. It also moves nicely with the skin so you will still have a natural looking wig.

Final words:

Securing your wig will not only keep the wig in place throughout the day but it will also help you feel more comfortable when you do some drastic movements during the day. Securing your wig is not an expensive exercise but it is something worth investing in. Your human hair wig will still look natural and you will be able to move around more naturally without worrying that it will fall off.
