5 Common wig problems and how you can solve them

Do you love your wig just as much as we love ours except you sometimes run into wig problems that you just cannot seem to fix? Well look no further because we are going to help you solve some of the most common wig problems that we all seem to run into at least once in our wig wearing days. We will help you deal with the frizz, static, knots, falling bangs as well as how to keep your wig secured on your head throughout the day. Let’s take a look at some of the common problems and how you can solve them.

Frizzy and static hair:

Frizzy hair is something that we all suffer with. The solution is to use a product that contains silicon. The silicon is going to help calm down the hair so that it doesn’t frizz throughout the day. Please keep in mind that silicone can dull your dyed hair so you are going to need to find a product that can help with frizzy hair and at the same time safe to use on hair that has been dyed. You can also use a conditioning treatment when washing your wig to help calm down the hair even more. This treatment is ideal to use throughout the humid seasons.

Static hair is the worst because you feel like you look like someone who has just stuck their finger into the plug. The solution to this is simple; all you need to do is apply hair spray to your brush or directly onto the wig before brushing your hair. The hair spray is going to set and ensure that you do not have run away pieces of hair throughout the day. You can also place a dryer sheet on top of your wig before you go to sleep. This will ensure that you do not have a static wig in the morning.

Knotted hair and bangs falling into your eyes:

If you have knots at the nape of the neck is actually a good sign because it means that you have a good quality wig. The hair on good quality wigs has their bulbs ad cuticles intact which means any rubbing or heat can cause knots just like in normal hair. The solution to your problem is to gently brush your hair after every wear and apply a serum to the knotted areas to help ensure that this doesn’t happen often. The serum you use such be designed specifically for knotted hair. Some people find that the knots diminish after a few wears.

Bangs falling into your eyes can be rather annoying but there are a few solutions you can use to prevent this from happening all the time.

  1. You can train the hair to stay in place by pinning it up when you are not wearing your wig.

  2. You can also ask your hair dresser to thin out the area. This is going to ensure that there is not too much weight pulling the bangs forward in the future.

  3. This might seem weird but you can add some baby hair that is coarser to the bang area of the wig to help lift the hair which will prevent it from falling forward.

Your wig doesn’t feel secured on your head:

This is one of the most common problems that you find. Either the wig feels too loose, too tight or it keeps falling off at the back of your head. If it is falling off at the back, you can place a long comb along the nape of the wig. This will help keep it in place but if this does not work, then it means that your wig is too small for you and you might need a bigger cap or a bigger wig all together. The best solution for that is to go to a hair dresser and ask them for a fitting. That way you will find the right size for you and they can alter your wig to suit your needs and measurements.

If you wig is feeling too loose on your head then there is a solution that you are going to love! Often what happens when you wear a wig for too long, the elastic in the cap tends to wear and stretch out. All you need to do is replace the elastic in the cap and you are good to go. This solution will not cost you a lot of money and it does not take long for you to replace it as well.  If this solution still does not help you, then the wig that you are wearing may be too big for you and you are going to need to get the wig or the cap re-measured and adjusted to fit your head snug.

As you can see there are a few common wig problems that we have all gone through at some stage. You are not alone in your wig issues and now you have the knowledge on how you can solve your own wig problems without any hassle or spending a lot of money. You need to look after your wig so that the wig will last you as long as possible and so that it stays looking fresh and new for longer. This might require you to spend a bit more time preparing your wig but I promise you that it is worth it!
